Effective Treatment of Water Inrush and Shield Jamming in Double-Shield TBM Construction at China Hydropower Engineering Bureau III TBM2 Section of Lanzhou Water Source Project
On September 13, 2017, with approximately 2km remaining for tunnel breakthrough, the double-shield TBM encountered a water-bearing fractured fault zone that caused severe equipment jamming and significant water inrush. Initial mitigation measures involving shallow-hole grouting to stabilize the cutterhead face and deep-hole cement grouting reinforcement were implemented. However, the TBM still experienced excessive muck discharge, with 700m³ of material excavated during just 1.2m of advance. The massive volume of debris repeatedly overloaded and halted both the main and transfer conveyor belts, forcing extensive manual removal of muck that had overflowed into the shield interior. Meanwhile, water inflow intensified dramatically from initial minor seepage to multiple high-volume flows, ultimately reaching a total discharge rate of approximately 100m³/h and bringing tunneling operations to a complete standstill.

Water Inrush Treatment in TBM Tunneling for Shanxi Major Water Network's Central Yellow River Diversion Project
During the double-shield TBM tunneling construction of Lot III in Shanxi's Central Yellow River Diversion Project, executed by Italy's C.M.C. Ravenna, a critical water inrush incident occurred in September 2017 when encountering a water-rich sandstone formation with well-developed fissures. The face and front shield experienced massive water inflows reaching 400-500 m³/h, completely halting tunneling progress. The project team successfully implemented Ruinuo waterproofing materials with supporting grouting technologies, including face drilling grouting and advanced borehole grouting. These measures effectively controlled the water inflow, enabling TBM advancement while ensuring quality segment installation.Ruinuo's waterproofing materials and construction technology system earned full recognition from the contractor, supervision team, and project owner for their exceptional performance in addressing this severe geological challenge.

Rapid Treatment of Significant Water Seepage at the Tunnel Face During TBM Construction of the Yellow River Diversion Tunnel
The tunnel has a total length of approximately 11 km and is constructed using a double-shield TBM (Tunnel Boring Machine). When the tunneling reached about 7 km, it encountered a fine sandstone confined aquifer. At the nine o'clock position of the tunnel face, three interconnected water-bearing fissures were identified, leading to significant water inflow. The water inflow rate was about 300 m³/h, with a water pressure of approximately 1 MPa. The substantial seepage posed a direct threat to the normal operation of the TBM, forcing it to halt excavation. After retreating one ring of segment, the construction team promptly adopted Renuo waterproofing material for grouting and sealing. This quickly restored TBM operation, allowing for smooth progress through the water-seepage section.

Rapid Construction Technology for New-Type Sealing Walls
The RuiNuo Filling Sealing II system enables rapid construction of advanced sealing walls in underground environments. This technology is applicable for: permanent sealing walls, permanent explosion-proof sealing walls, filling large emission zones and cavities in roadways and mining faces, consolidation of loose coal-rock masses, and backfilling of small coal mines in mining areas. Compared with traditional sealing methods, this system offers three key advantages: 1. Enhanced wall safety 2. Accelerated construction speed 3. Reduced material consumption
